Pre-exposure prophylaxis or PrEP is a treatment with very specific antiretroviral medications that can be offered to people engaging in unprotected sexual activities considered at risk for HIV. In 2021, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) recommended PrEP to anyone who desires it regardless of their sexual orientation or practices.
PrEP reduces the risk of HIV transmission, but does not eliminate it completely.
PrEP does not protect against other STIs or pregnancy.
For PrEP to be effective, it must be taken regularly and medical follow-up appointments must be respected (1 month after starting PrEP and then every 3 months).
We offer management and follow-up of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to all male and female patients not enrolled in our Clinic. PrEP treatment is accompanied by follow-up and management, in complete confidentiality.
