Diabetes Mellitus

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is the disease of our century. The main cause of diabetes is the abundance of often unbalanced food. Processed food with overuse of simple sugars (anything tasting sweet) and complex sugars (bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, couscous, among others) plays the main role in the development of type 2 diabetes.

A drastic change in diet, physical exercise, and weight loss can help control diabetes without the need for medication. Unfortunately, only a minority of patients are able to control diabetes this way. The vast majority of them need oral (by mouth) medications and sometimes even injectable insulin or non-insulin injectable treatment.
